RICHARD SHEINGOLD has been named President, CBS Spot Sales, and Executive Vice President, Sales, Viacom Television Stations. He will also resume his post as President, CBS Spot Sales, where from May 1997 through June 2000 he was responsible for all national advertising sales for the CBS Television Stations Division.

HERMAN CAIN was elected to the Board of Directors of The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. Cain is founder and Chief Executive Officer of T.H.E., Inc., a leadership consulting company specializing in keynote speaking and inspirational books and recordings.

Sony Pictures Entertainment suspended two unnamed advertising executives for 30 days without pay Thursday for fabricating quotes by a nonexistent film critic who praised four of Sony's movies in its advertisements.

THOMAS O'BRIEN has been appointed President and General Manager of NBC 5/KXAS-TV, NBC's owned-and-operated station in Dallas. O'Brien had been President and General Manager of WVIT, NBC's owned-and-operated station in Hartford, Conn., since 1998.

RICKY R. MATHEWS, vice president and marketing director of The Sun Herald, will succeed longtime publisher Roland Weeks Jr. when he retires July 31.

STEVEN SNELL has joined RealNetworks as Vice President of North American Infrastructure and Enterprise Sales. Snell joins RealNetworks from Computer Sciences Corporation where he was a partner responsible for the Western United States Business Development organization within the Global Oracle Consulting Practice.

JOHN LAWLOR has been appointed President of the Spectra companies, a division of VNU Marketing Information that also includes MediaPlan and Trade Dimensions. He has been Spectra's executive vice president of client services since May 2000.

GARY WARECH has joined The Exordium Group, Inc. as VP, New Business Development along with the official opening of its East Coast office. Warech, an industry veteran, will leverage his sixteen plus years of corporate marketing, sales, and market research experience to expand the firm's practice across multiple industry sectors.

NADINE PADAWER has been named Executive Vice President, Director of Executive Management Development of Initiative Media North America. Most recently, Padawer was an independent consultant in strategic planning and corporate and brand vision.

DONNIE PICOU has been named General Sales Manager for WWL 870am and WSMB Talk Radio 1350 in New Orleans. Picou was formerly the C.O.O. for Media Direct, LLC, a media buying service specializing in research based media planning, buying, and public relations, with offices in New Orleans and Memphis.

JOHN HOPPER has been named President and CEO of RealTime Media. He had been managing partner with promotion agency Einson Freeman, Inc. and EinsonHealth.

SUZIE ROSS was named Research Director and G&J's Fast Company magazine from Advertising & Research Manager at Juno Online Services.

LISA KRAYNAK has been named to the newly created position of vice president of marketing at Viacom Plus, a cross-platform marketing unit of Viacom Inc. She comes to Viacom from iVillage.com, where she most recently served as vice president of strategic marketing.

Lots of moves going on at USA Networks, starting with MICHELE GANELESS being named executive vice president and general manager at the USA Network. She had been senior vice president of programming at Comedy Central. MELISSA ALCRUZ was named vice president of trade marketing. She previously served as director of marketing at MTV. Also at USA, TODD FEDELL has been appointed vice president and creative director of the marketing division. He was last seen worked at Cartoon Network. ALEXANDRA SHAPIRO has been named vice president of consumer marketing at USA. She had been marketing director for Zoggle.com. WENDY WEATHERFORD has become USA's vice president of promotion and interactive marketing. She had been with MXG Media. JENNIFER EMRICHHAS has been named director of trade marketing. She was last with Master Card International.

JIM NOONAN has been named senior vice president and general manager of Warner Bros. Online. He had been senior vice president of strategic promotions at Warner Music Group.

BARBARA S. ESBIN has been named associate chief of the FCC's Cable Services Bureau. She has been a partner with the Washington law firm Dow, Lohnes & Albertson.

ROSA ALONSO has been appointed Eastern advertising sales director at People en Español. She had been vice president of marketing and sales for Latino.com. Also at People en Español, CLAUDETTE MENDOZA joins as ad sales manager. She was last seen as account executive at CBS/KTVT-Channel 11 in Dallas and CBS/WFOR-Channel 4 in Miami.

MICHAEL P. CONNORS has been named chairman and chief executive officer of VNU Media Measurement & Information, comprising all of the media and entertainment information units of VNU and ACNielsen.

JAYNE SPITTLER will retire from Starcom MediaVest Group in August, after 20 years in the company's research and planning divisions, most recently working as senior vice president and media director.

UPN Entertainment president TOM NUNAN is leaving the network. No departure date is set as of now.
