Telemundo Gets Bigger

Telemundo Communications Group, Inc. and Southwest Sports Television, L.P. have entered into an agreement for Telemundo to acquire the full-power independent station KXTX-TV Channel 39 in Dallas from Southwest Sports. The acquisition will provide Telemundo with an owned and operated station in each of the eight largest U.S. Hispanic markets. Having more than doubled its Hispanic population in the last decade to 1.2 million, Dallas-Ft. Worth is the fastest growing of the top 20 Hispanic markets in the U.S. Hispanics now represent 20.5% of Dallas-Ft. Worth's total population.
