Andy Griffith Museum Opens

  • January 25, 2010
Memorabilia relating to Andy Griffith and his role in the fictitious Mayberry, based on Mount Airy, N.C., the small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains where the actor was born 83 years ago, now has a permanent home, reports The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The 2,500-square-foot museum expects to welcome crowds this year as the town celebrates the 50th anniversary of the debut of "The Andy Griffith Show." The sitcom ran for eight seasons and inspired a second show, "Mayberry RFD."
