Citibank has launched a checking account promotion for consumers and small businesses.

The limited-time offer provides new customers who open an eligible checking account, deposit $25,000 into a qualifying savings account, and conduct banking activities with Citibank with 40,000 points in its ThankYou loyalty program. The points are redeemable for $400 in travel rewards like airfare, hotels, travel packages or car rentals.

Existing checking customers can get 20,000 ThankYou Points redeemable for $200 in travel rewards when they open a qualifying savings account with the minimum deposit and conduct everyday banking activities.

The deal for small businesses offers a $250 prepaid card when they open a qualifying account with at least $500 and use at least one cash management service, such as CitiBusiness payroll manager, remote check deposit, bill pay or merchant services. The offer is also available to existing customers who enroll in a new cash management service.

The personal checking and savings offer ends Oct. 17 and the small business offer ends Oct. 31.--Tanya Irwin
