Wal-Mart Stores says it has promoted Duncan Mac Naughton to chief merchandising officer for its 3,700 Walmart U.S. stores. He will continue to report to Bill Simon, Walmart U.S. president and CEO.

Mac Naughton, who has held executive positions at Kraft Foods, H.E. Butt Grocery Co. and Albertson's, started at Walmart in 2009 as chief merchandising officer for Walmart Canada, and was promoted to EVP/merchandising in October. (John Fleming, the last CMO for the Bentonville, Ark.-based chain, left the company last August.)
