Jim Nelson has been named Editor-in-Chief of GQ, following the announcement last month of Art Cooper's retirement after two decades as the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine. Nelson had been an editor at
GQ for six years. He joined the magazine as a senior editor in June, 1997; in June of last year he became co-Executive Editor. During his tenure at the magazine, he has worked as both a writer and an
editor. He edits the work of GQ contributors such as Elizabeth Gilbert, Charles Bowden, Michael Paterniti, and Guy Lawson. Two pieces Nelson edited by Gilbert and Paterniti were nominated for awards
from the American Society of Magazine Editors this year.
