Airlines Redefines Display Advertising

Fourteen million dollars gets your brand a year on the exterior of every Spirit Airlines jet, while $196,000 gets you three months of ads on the overhead bins in Spirit's planes, $119,000 for ads on the tray tables or $18,500 for ads on air-sickness bags. 

Spirit and Ryanair generate money by such branding, but a growing number of U.S. airlines are doing likewise, with ads on overhead bins, seat backs and tray tables, flight attendants' aprons, snack boxes and napkins. Even announcements by flight crews and in safety videos.
