3dnet Goes Online

  • November 21, 2011

Full-time 3D television network 3net (a joint venture between Sony, Discovery Networks and Imax) has launched a website, 3net.com, meant to bring the network online.

The new site combines elements of a traditional website, as well as game console features, navigational aspects more akin to mobile and tablet devices and the interactive experience of digital television on-screen guides. The site also employs 2D and 3D video, a Q&A section and industry news and developments.

“Translating 3net's 3D network experience to an online environment posed a unique challenge, and I'm proud of what our marketing group was able to develop in the few short months since we undertook this initiative,” said 3net CEO Tom Cosgrove, in a statement.  “We now have a dynamic online platform that allows us to expose curious consumers to the immersive experience of 3D television, while expanding the reach of 3net's content offering to the broadest possible user base.”
