Polar Mobile Raises $6 Million for HTML5 Platform
Polar Mobile announced this morning it had secured another $6 million in funding in a round led by Georgia Partners. The mobile media platform servicing publishers such as CBS Interactive, Conde Nast, Sports Illustrated and the Wall Street Journal says it will use the funds to develop its new MediaEverywhere initiative. The HTML5-based platform is designed to support mutl-device deployments for both mobile web sites and apps from major media. MediaEverywhere claims to empower publishers to manage more of their content deployments in house.
Polar Mobile’s current platform is called SMART, which is used to launch apps across the major devices. The company claims to touch over 11 million users with its mobile products for 380 media brands. The $6 million in new funding is added to $3 million so far raised from private investors. MediaEverywhere will be launched in coming months.
