Starbucks Opens First Evolution Fresh Store

  • March 19, 2012

Today marks the opening of Starbucks's first non-coffee format, a juice and healthy foods store dubbed Evolution Fresh.

Starbucks bought the Evolution Fresh brand four months go.

The first store is in Bellevue, Wash., east of Seattle.

The store marks the start of Starbucks' first foray into the $50 billion health/wellness market--where it also believes that it can compete with CPG giants, Jeff Hansberry, a former Protcter & Gamle exec who is now president of Starbucks Channel Development, told USA Today.

Fresh Evolution's prices aren't cheap--$7.99 for a 16-ounce "hand-crafted" juice; $8.25 for a salad ($2.50 more if you want chicken or steak on it); $8.75 for hold or cold sandwich "bowls" and $7.50 for a wrap (wrapped in collard greens, not pita).
