"Digg isn't done. Yet. But it's looking pretty close," writes Peter Kafka, discussing the Washington Post's plans for acquiring at least some version of the news aggregator's assets.

The Post is buying/hiring Digg's technology staff and putting it to work "alongside the people who built the publisher’s Social Reader Facebook app," according to sources cited by Kafka.

But Digg won't shut down immediately, says Kafka: "The site’s remaining management will try to figure out how to take advantage of its brand name and traffic, according to people familiar with the company."
