Coming Soon: Family Data Plans

Get ready for the latest in telecommunications marketing: family data plans.
According to CNET, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega said the company is working on a shared data plan. Like the old plans that allowed a family to share a cumulative bucket of talk-time minutes, the data plan would allow multiple users and devices to access wireless data for one cost.
"I'm very comfortable with the plan that will be offered to our customers," de la Vega told CNET at the CTIA Wireless industry trade show in New Orleans.
Verizon Wireless is expected to unveil its own shared data plan this summer. The timing of a similar plan from AT&T was unclear.
