Calvin Klein Gets All Brooklyn

  • May 29, 2012

Calvin Klein has signed a strategic marketing alliance with the new Barclays Center arena in downtown Brooklyn, and the Brooklyn Nets NBA (formerly the Jersey Nets) that will include the presenting sponsorship for both the “Calvin Klein Courtside Club” and the “Calvin Klein VIP Entrance,” which will be located on Atlantic Avenue at Barclays Center. Calvin Klein, Inc. becomes the seventh Founding Partner for Barclays Center.

The sports and entertainment complex that was a flashpoint for Brooklyn activists will be festooned with Calvin Klein branding. Calvin Klein lifestyle design elements will be on "special environments" within the building.

The sponsorship rights include Calvin Klein branding on courtside seats, television-visible courtside and baseline signage, a branded backdrop during some events, and a major advertising presence via “Street-to-Seat” brand signage and exposure at Barclays Center.

Scheduled to open this fall, Barclays Center was the love child of real estate magnate Bruce Ratner, whose final vision is somewhat smaller than the original city-within-a-city idea he had promulgated. The joint will have 18,200 seats for basketball and up to 19,000 seats for concerts, and will also have 100 luxury suites, four bars/lounges, and three clubs, among other things.
