Walmart Hands Out $20 Million In Summer Programs

Walmart says its charitable foundation will distribute $20 million in grants to six nonprofit organizations, all aimed at summer programs for children.

The funding targets elementary, middle and high school students in 350 local communities, and include the YMCA of the USA, National Recreation and Park Association, National Summer Learning Association, Innovations in Civic Participation, and Building Educated Leaders for Life, as well as Brandeis University.

Last year, the Bentonville, Ark.-based company awarded $25 million in summer grants.
