Amazon Prime Inks Content Deal with MGM

Amazon is adding hundreds of films and TV shows owned by MGM, including “The Terminator,” “Rain Man” and “The Silence of the Lambs,” to its online movie subscription and rental service, Amazon Prime, the LA Times reports.

Some but not all of the movies coming to Amazon Prime are available in the U.S. via Netflix. The online retailer now has more than 18,000 movies and TV shows in its database of licensed content, following a series of deals with the likes of Paramount, Disney and Fox in the last year. 

MGM, looking for new ways to cash in on its library of 4,000 movies, has also signed deals with Netflix, Hulu and other digital distributors.
