Wal-Mart Launches Online Music Store

Wal-Mart Stores entered the increasingly crowded online music space, opening an online music store music store on Tuesday. The retailer has undercut offerings from Apple's iTunes, Roxio's Napster, and RealNetworks by selling downloads for 88 cents apiece. Apple, Roxio, and Real offer singles for 99 cents apiece. Apple recently said its iTunes Music Store sold 50 million songs since its April 2003 launch. Apple doesn't expect to make its 100 million tracks sold mark, which it said it would hit by the end of April 2004.
