Consumers increasingly want to watch TV programming via smarphones and tablets, according to a new study from Beta Research.
Among adults, interest in viewing TV content on mobile devices climbed to 31% in 2012 from 22% in 2011, the study said. Among younger adults, age 18-34, 50% expressed the same interest, up from 39% a year earlier. Similarly, nearly half (47%) of teens 12-17 said they were interested in viewing TV content on mobile devices, compared to 43% in 2011.
The Beta study also found that 19% of adults had actually viewed TV on a smartphone or tablet in the past 30 days.
The survey was conducted in March with a national sample of 4,900 multichannel subscribers.
