In a surprising development, U.S. consumers are beginning to replace their household land line phones with cell phones. While the occurrences are still rare, an estimated 3.5 percent of U.S. home
owners now use a cell phone as their primary household phone, according to estimates released Tuesday by MetaFacts. The data, from its just-published Technology User Profile, also finds that the
number of two-line households is in a pronounced decline, dropping to 23.2 percent in 203 from 26.5 percent in 2002.
