Rite Aid is introducing a new format, its next-generation “wellness” store, in  Lemoyne, Pa. First unveiled last year, the company describes this newer version as “warm and welcoming,” with woodgrain paneling, softer lighting and easier-to-navigate departments.

Signage and décor has been updated, and the retailer has added interactive vision kiosks; a diabetic diagnostic center; a men’s grooming area where guys can use iPads to sample new looks; a nail bar, and grab-and-go cooler, selling milk, eggs,  and other perishables. So far, the chain has 570 wellness stores in place, and intends to increase that to 800 by February.
