Amazon Offers FreeTime Unlimited Tab
Amazon is making its Kindle tablets even more family friendly, offering a new service, FreeTime Unlimited, that packages tablet-friendly books, games, educational apps, movies and TV shows, in on simple service.
The FreeTime Unlimted package will cost $6.99 per month per child or $9.99 for the whole family. (Prime members get a discount of $2 and $3 per month respectively.) It will be available on the new Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9” as a software update.
Like its Nook competitor, the FreeTime Unlimited service, each child can set up individual profiles to avoid sharing with adults and/or siblings. The service will also ensure that in-app payments, advertisements and social media connections are removed.
“As a parent it’s hard to predict what my daughter is going to enjoy, or which movie she’s going to watch 50 times in a row—so I buy a range of content and hope for the best—but I get it wrong frequently,”. “FreeTime Unlimited gives kids the freedom to explore age-appropriate content on their own and pick for themselves what they want to watch, play or read next,” said Peter Larsen, Vice President, Amazon Kindle, in a statement.
