Kickstarter Campaigns Make $319 Million In 2012

Kickstarter’s hardware projects made headlines in 2012, but film and gaming ideas grabbed the most cash at the crowdfunding site, garnering $176 million. Kickstarter said it attracted more than 2 million backers who pledged a combined $319 million on everything from one-woman comedy shows to iPhone-enabled watches and electronic banana pianos. That's a 221% increase over 2011, and 238% increase over the number of backers.
