Broadband Video Streams Up 42 Percent
Aug 17, 2004, 12:00 AM
Broadband video measurement firm AccuStream iMedia Research issued a new report Tuesday revealing that broadband video streams this year are up 42 percent over 2003 on sites with 90 percent broadband usage. The report, "Broadband Viewer Metrics and Market Analysis 2000-2004" said that users accessed an average of 15.4 video streams per month, per site.
"Broadband users on ad-supported sites now watch over 30 minutes of streaming video per month from home and work," stated AccuStream research director Paul Palumbo.
The report tracks viewer consumption of streaming video from 1998 through the first half of 2004. Broadband video streams first began being published on sites and networks in 2000, and surpassed narrowband streams by a slim margin in 2001. For the full year, AccuStream is forecasting that over 80 percent of all video streams served will be at broadband rates.
