While NBC trumpeted its
on-demand-always-everywhere coverage of the Olympics as the place to be during last summer's games, anyone who viewed the bulk of the festivities overseas knew that the BBC app provided
a superior experience. Via 24 live streams, it captured every moment of every event - 2,500 hours of coverage in sum - and added, for good measure, network feeds from BBC One and BBC Three.
The BBC app also offered a wealth of supplementary materials, everything from dynamically generated info pages for each competing country and athlete to daily commentaries written by
BBC journos.
