The Federal Trade Commission won a round on Thursday against an accused spyware distributor. The U.S. District Court in Concord, New Hampshire granted a temporary restraining order against accused
"Spam King"-turned-spyware-distributor Sanford Wallace, and his two outfits, Seismic Entertainment Productions and Smartbot.net. The court ruled that Wallace and his businesses must refrain from
exploiting "Internet security vulnerabilities." A message, posted on a Web site under the control of a Wallace-owned company and signed "from Sanford Wallace," states that Wallace's companies are
cooperating with officials, but plans to "show that our operations are legal."
