Metro.co.uk has cited social media as a vital component in its online growth as it reached 20.1 million monthly global unique visitors for the first time. The figures – which are up 24 per cent month-on-month and 161 per cent year-on-year – are credited to Facebook’s decision to increase its traffic to publishers, making social media a key factor in this growth.
