Hulu Plus, the online subscription network owned by every broadcast network except CBS, acquired rights to “Elementary,” the second-year CBS drama that seems to be a solid hit on the network.
It’s a show that updates the Sherlock Holmes character, now in New York, and teams him with a female Dr. Watson, played by Lucy Liu. Holmes is portrayed by Jonny Lee Miller.
CBS offers some of its library of more aged hits, such as “I Love Lucy” to Hulu, and offers some of its reality series, including "Survivor" and "Amazing Race," but “Elementary” joins “The Good Wife” as the only other CBS scripted show currently on the air that has an online home on Hulu.
The network says “Elementary” was the most watched new series offered on broadcast TV last season. CBS says this season, it’s fourth among primetime programs, with 12.1 million viewers and 4.15 million viewers over the longer seven day (L7) DVR playback time span.
