Did the maker of Flappy Bird really just retire the free, ad-supported game because it was too popular? Yes, that’s what creator Dong Nguyen tells Forbes. “It happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever.” With the app goes $50,000 in daily advertising, by some estimates.

    Okay, the original headline (I imagine they're going to fix it ASAP) reads, "Flappy Bird Maker Kills App Over Addition Fears." I clicked, wondering how math skills can strike fear into an app developer's heart. I do believe MediaPost means to write "Addiction" fears.

    Dong Nguyen deserves a prize if he indeed has voluntarily given up a veritable fortune because he's concerned about the health of the users of his product. Were that more brands were this altruistic...
