February has been a big month for debuts of ad campaigns featuring same-sex couples, from a Banana Republic print ad to the Coca-Cola spot that aired both during the Super Bowl and opposite the
opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics. That placement, along with two Chevrolet Olympics ads featuring same-sex couples, were presumably meant to send a message of inclusion opposed to the Russian
government's anti-gay policy -- though a spokesperson for the Gay and Lesbian Alliances Against Defamation said Olympics sponsors could have gone further and made a direct message condemning Russian
policies.
