12 Ad Tech, Media Tech Startups To Compete In This Year's MassChallenge

MassChallenge, the world's largest startup accelerator, has unveiled this year's roster of feisty competitors and at least dozen ad and media-related techs have made the cut.

So who are the lucky dozen?

AWR Ideas says it's developed hardware and software to take "contextual advertising outside the Internet to the physical world."

Gameblyr runs a game publishing platform that helps developers bring their games to market.

HigherMe has created an online video recruiting platform to help employers find and screen job candidates.

JessMeetKen is an online dating platform that allows women "to recommend guys who may not be right for them, but could be GREAT for someone else."

Kuona has an app that helps shoppers find the best prices and physical location of items in area grocery stores.

NEON Mobile says it "provides a turnkey publishing and analytics based platform for customer facing tasks including an integrated user mobile experience."

Nodespan uses "machine learning to understand the content of a discussion, leading to happier customers and more customer-centric companies."

Real Life Analytics calls itself "the Google Adwords for billboard advertising."

And Splashscore says it's  "the leading influencer activation platform for Facebook."

The twelve are part of MassChallenge's incoming class of 128 finalists, chosen from a pool of over 1,600 applicants. The finalists will now be immersed in a four-month incubator program where they will receive a wide variety of mentoring and support services to help bring their fledgling businesses to the next level. At the end of the four months, a panel of judges will award $1.75 million in cash grants to those it deems most likely to succeed.
