The Albany Times Union has named REX SMITH editor, to succeed current Houston Chronicle editor JEFF COHEN. As part of a restructuring of the editorial department, MARY FRAN GLEASON has been named to the new position of managing editor, reporting to Smith. Smith had been managing editor/news. Gleason had been managing editor/features and sports. Under the new structure, those positions will be combined.
