DoubleClick Says Half Fortune 500 Advertise on Net

DoubleClick Inc. today announced that over half of the Fortune 100 companies are advertising across the DoubleClick Network. Among the Fortune 100 companies running ads across the DoubleClick Network are General Motors, Verizon Communications, Sprint, Motorola, and SBC Communications. According to ad measurement firm AdRelevance, the number of new companies advertising online has more than doubled since January 2000, growing 157% in only ten months. In October, offline companies accounted for almost half of the new advertisers on the web increasing at a faster rate than their counterparts. "Traditional advertisers are embracing the power of the Internet as a marketing medium," said Barry Salzman, President, DoubleClick Global Media. "DoubleClick's revenue from traditional advertisers continues to grow. We are pleased to be working more closely with more of the Fortune 100 companies to help them reach their online advertising objectives."
