Springbot users can now create storefronts on Instagram to encourage potential customers to shop featured products.

Additional features include a customized link, tracking tools to identify which products are doing best, and automated email reminders to visit the store.

The new product adds Instagram to the cloud-based platform, which already allows for social selling on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

The company offers multichannel marketing optimization tools including social selling, data analytics and email marketing for SMB retailers on Magento and Shopify.

“With over 27% of the total US population on Instagram and its dominate popularity with millennials, it is a critical social platform for online retailers to stay top of mind with consumers in order to drive revenue,” states Brooks Robinson, co-founder and CEO of Springbot.

Instagram is a particularly millennial-friendly digital channel, since 90% of Instagram users are under 35, according to researchers at Penn State’s Colelge of Information Sciences and Technology.

Millennials are also more likely to turn to social media for ideas on what to buy. One in four turn to social media for shopping inspiration, according to a report released today by Maybe*Solutions. Less than 40% of millennial shoppers gather ideas from a physical store, and 65% research products for three or more days.

eMarketer expects Instagram to reach 100 million active users by 2018, and access to millennials may be a factor in why Instagram is the top ranking social channel marketers want to invest in.

In addition to social selling, an automated email reminder can also be a powerful revenue tool for online retailers and marketers.

35.5% of clicks on cart reminder emails lead to a purchase, according to a recent study by SaleCycle. The study claims that, for every cart reminder sent, a company can generate an additional $5.64 in revenue.
