Verizon Licenses Microsoft TV

Verizon Friday announced plans to utilize the Microsoft TV platform for the commercial rollout of its ViOS TV service, planned to launch later this year. The service will provide high-definition TV, digital video recording, on-demand video services, and ultimately video over Internet and to wireless hand-held and cell phone devices. Verizon is the second major telco to announce such a deal. In November, SBC Communications announced a $400 million ten-year deal to incorporate Microsoft TV into its advanced TV platforms.
