Google Tax Row Harming Brand Image And Staff Morale, MPs Claim

MPs have suggested that Google's tax avoidance row is harming the morale of its 4,000 UK employees and that will undermine staff retention. Google EMEA president Matt Brittin faced repeated criticism from MPs on the Commons Public Accounts Committee when quizzed yesterday, alongside Google Vice President of Finance Tom Hutchinson, about the Internet giant's GBP130 million settlement in UK back taxes over ten years. "This is staining your reputation," Richard Bacon, a Conservative MP, told Brittin.
