PowerInbox Raises 6.5M For Real-Time Email Personalization

PowerInbox announced a $6.5 million investment on Wednesday to expand its workforce and enhance its email personalization technology.

Jeff Kupietzky, chief executive office at PowerInbox, says the investment will fund the hiring of additional staff across sales, product development and marketing teams. Kupietzky also expressed a desire to develop more social media solutions on the platform, as well as expand the company to the United States.

The Israel-based PowerInbox currently offers a suite of real-time and personalized email marketing services to help marketers and publishers increase email engagement and revenue. PowerInbox’s DynamicMail solution includes personalized visual and video content, while RevenueStripe offers content recommendations.

"After PowerInbox demonstrated strong growth from both the DynamicMail email marketing solution and the RevenueStripe in email content recommendation ad network, we're excited to increase our investment in PowerInbox to support the company's product and go-to-market strategy to intelligently and efficiently scale its business," states Scott Tobin, general partner at Battery Ventures and director at PowerInbox.

PowerInbox experienced significant growth in 2015, adding over 100 new clients and seeing a 2000% increase in revenue. Its client roster includes the NFL, GM, Hearst, CNN, and HBO.

PowerInbox’s success comes from the company’s ability to change the content of an email at the moment it is opened. The company leverages real-time data, such as geographical region, device and available product quantity, to create the most relevant and targeted content for consumers at the very moment they open their email.

For example, HBO uses PowerInbox to promote its HBO Go mobile streaming application. Since HBO Go is not currently compatible with Windows devices, PowerInbox changes call to actions in accordance with what device the email is opened on.

PowerInbox’s Series A investment comes from new and existing investors, including Battery Ventures, Genesis Partners and Maverick Ventures.  Libby Novack of Maverick Ventures will also join PowerInbox’s board.
