Martin Nisenholtz, CEO of New York Times Digital, has been named senior vice president of digital operations for New York Times Co., just as the company expands its digital domain to include About.com
(see related story in today's
MDN). Niesenholtz, who began his career at New York University researching interactive media, went on to form the Interactive Marketing Group at Ogilvy & Mather in
1983, one of Madison Avenue's pioneering interactive media labs. While Nisenholtz's new role at the New York Times Co. gives him a broader online portfolio, it may presage some management changes
related to an internal struggle over how to manage the online and print publishing assets of the
New York Times.
