Emails containing malicious URLs and attachments were up 800% in Q1 2016, as compared to Q1 2015, according to a new report from Proofpoint. The research revealed that Locky ransomware and the Dridex banking trojan made up the majority of the document attachment-based attacks in Q1. Locky accounted for 24 percent of these attacks and Dridex made up 74 percent of these attacks.
