Microsoft said it is taking several steps to identify and combat extremist content online and will launch measures to carry out the task. the measures include a change in its terms
of use to prohibit the posting of terrorist content on Microsoft consumer services like Xbox Live, OneDrive, Skype and Outlook, according to a blog post. "
The Internet has become the
primary medium for sharing ideas and communicating with one another, and the events of the past few months are a strong reminder that the Internet can be used for the worst reasons imaginable," per
Microsoft. The company said it's helping to launch a public-private partnership aimed at preventing terrorist abuse on Internet platforms, and investing in research into technologies that
can proactively search for and identify terrorist material online.
