MPA Taps Fleming As VP, Digital Director

MPA - The Association of Magazine Media has appointed Barry Fleming as the new vice president and digital director.

Fleming will be responsible for the organization’s Web site, database and marketing systems, as well as the liaison for the MPA Digital Committee and education and event development, including all MPA digital seminars and conferences.

Fleming reports to Nancy Telliho, SVP of marketing and digital initiatives. His appointment is effective immediately.

“In my new role, I have accountability to both internal clients, the MPA itself, as well as external clients, MPA members,” Fleming told Publishers Daily.

“My first job internally is to assess and enhance the marketing database and information systems. For our members, my top priority is to reactivate the Digital Committee and design the most compelling and necessary event programming in the digital space,” he says.

He added that he hopes to soon “optimize the backend systems that MPA uses to reach and engage its members” and before the end of the year,  “deliver notable and newsworthy digital events, such as a large digital summit, as well as more intimate affairs.”

Fleming joins MPA from Geometry Global (WPP), where he was director of performance analytics and worked with clients such as Novartis, Campbell’s Soup Company, Liberty Mutual and Target.

MPA has undergone notable hires this year.

Linda Thomas Brooks was appointed as president and CEO of MPA in January and Glenn Spoto was named SVP and CFO in March.

Brooks took over after Mary Berner stepped down last September to become CEO of Cumulus Media.

Nancy Telliho was serving as interim president and CEO during the search process.
