Meredith Restructures National, Local Media Groups: Names Harty President-COO

Media and marketing services giant Meredith Corp. has restructured the senior management team overseeing its media operations. As part of the reorganization, Meredith named Tom Harty president and COO of Meredith Corp., with responsibility for overseeing its national and local media groups.

Harty, a 12-year veteran of Meredith, most recently was president of its national media group. Before joining Meredith in 2004, he was senior vice president of The Golf Digest Companies.

Harty will continue to report to Meredith Chairman-CEO Steve Lacy, and the company said the new structure will enable Lacy to “focus more on long-term strategy, business expansion and acquisition activities.”

As part of the reorg, Meredith named Jon Werther to succeed Harty as National Media Group president. Werther has been president of Meredith Digital.  He also has oversight of the Better Homes and Gardens and Martha Stewart Living media brands.
