Hitwise: College Hoops Drives Web Traffic In March

From sports news sites to fantasy game sites, visits to the top 20 March Madness-related Web sites increased 94 percent month-over-month the week ending March 12, 2005, Hitwise reported Friday. Traffic to NCAA tournament-related sites is up 7 percent year-over-year--but, said Hitwise, the average time fans spent viewing sites decreased by 23 seconds.
Popular sites included ESPN's men's college basketball site, its Fantasy Games site, Yahoo!'s men's college basketball site, and CBS SportsLine. The most popular related search term was "duke basketball," according to Hitwise.
