According to Friedlander’s latest Instagram post, she met Brown 10 years ago as her intern.
Friedlander will report to Brown and will be responsible for overseeing all online, mobile, social and video editorial for InStyle.com, responsibilities generally held by former editorial director Ariel Foxman, before he left the brand in late July.
In March, Time Inc. combined fashion-centric brands xoJane, xoVain, Mimi and The Outfit under a network called InStyle Collection to beef up InStyle’s digital presence.

InStyle also launched a new hub for Life & Home content, including verticals focused on lifestyle, weddings and entertaining.
Friedlander was previously creative team lead of The Wall Group and deputy editor of Elle.com.
