Blinkx Upgrades Search Application

  • April 4, 2005
Search technology provider Blinkx Friday announced the release of several new features to its search application, including an esthetic facelift, a built-in document preview feature that supports over 200 file formats, and indexing of local Lotus Notes content and e-mail.

Blinkx monitors what users are doing both online and offline, and automatically supplies them with links to relevant content from their local hard drives and the Web. This system stands in contrast to Yahoo!'s and Google's desktop search, which both wait for users to type keywords in a query box before searching for relevant content.

Blinkx 3.0 also offers security improvements meant to protect a user's privacy and data. These security features include full encryption of all communications between Blinkx's various components, and user authentication.
