Gmail, Google Calendar Get iOS Updates

Google has updated its Gmail application for iOS — the company’s biggest overhaul to the email app in four years.

The newly upgraded Gmail for iOS adds inbox management features to the application, as well as significantly boosting its speed.

An "Undo send" feature, already available on desktop, is now incorporated into the Gmail mobile app to help safeguard against embarrassing email mistakes. Users can also swipe emails to archive or delete them, just like in Google’s Inbox mobile email service. The search bar within the email app is also significantly smarter, and can recognize typos to make spelling suggestions.

“With the new app, getting things done on the go is a lot easier — whether you’re trying to find a message your colleague sent you last month, or trying to get through your work inbox on a Monday morning,” states Matthew Izzat, product manager at Google, in a blog post announcing the news.

In addition, Google has also upgraded its Calendar application for iOS with added support features and flexibility in calendar display.

The Calendar for iOS app is now compatible with Apple’s Spotlight Search, making it easier for users to search for events, reminders and goals. Calendar users can also now view their schedules in a "month view" or "week in landscape view."
