NetApplications: 8 Percent Of Web Users Now Browse With Firefox

  • June 9, 2005
Firefox's market share grew to 8 percent last month--up from 7.38 percent in April and 5.59 percent in the beginning of the year, according to a report released Wednesday by NetApplications, an Alisa Viejo, Calif.-based Web site monitoring and measurement company. The growth appeared to come at the expense of Microsoft's Internet Explorer, which saw market share drop to 87.23 percent from 88 percent in April and 90.31 percent in January. NetApplications compiled data using its HitsLink.com analytics service. Last month, consulting firm Janco Associates estimated that Firefox had captured an even greater market share than NetApplications--10.28 percent of browsers, as of the end of April.
