Specsavers Awards $62 Million UK/Ireland Media Account To GroupM And Mediaedge:cia

  • June 22, 2005
European optical retailer Specsavers has consolidated its $62 million media buying and planning for the UK and Ireland with WPP Group's GroupM.

Mediaedge:cia, which is a part of GroupM with its WPP sister media shop MindShare, had been running Specsavers' television buying and sponsorship deals, and led the consolidation on behalf of GroupM. The additional assignments include radio, national, and regional press, and amount to additional billings of $33 million more than what MEC had managed previously. The consolidation also sees the communications planning moving from Specsavers, where it was previously handled in house, to GroupM.
