Apprise Media announced on Wednesday that it had purchased paintball and martial arts enthusiast publisher CFW Enterprises, Inc. CFW will now become the Action Pursuit Group (APG) of Apprise Enthusiast Media.

Charles McCurdy, chairman and CEO of Apprise, formerly served as the head of the magazine unit for Primedia, the once-formidable niche publishing empire that has recently been dramatically pared down by a series of sales, leading to speculation that McCurdy is seeking to recreate Primedia's dominance of the market at Apprise. -- Michael Deibert
