Greta Van Susteren Explains Fox's Holloway Fascination

Writing in her blog, Greta Wire, Fox News' Greta Van Susteren finally tackles the topic so many Americans are curious about: the case of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway. In particular, why the seemingly endless, morbid fascination with the pretty blonde who disappeared while vacationing with friends in Aruba months ago? Aren't there other stories of greater import? Van Susteren responds that she "would like to see the story through to the end" and that Natalee's "family deserves answers." Additionally, in response to viewers' questions about why the focus on young Ms. Holloway and not other missing persons, Fox's ratings-grabber says, "It is really random...and the family has been willing to provide information to us to make reporting possible. (We can't follow up on the missing honeymooner on the cruise ship because no one will talk. I can't just talk to myself on the air--I need a guest.)" She then goes on to explain the nature of the 24/7 cable-news cycle, and how she "is lucky to have so much time" to cover stories that scarcely get a mention on the broadcast news programs.
