Defying a sluggish economy and industry, The Economist magazine has just experienced its fastest annual rate of growth in over a decade. Circulation growth for the publication in North American for
the last twelve months in the period ending December 31, 2001 grew 12.8% versus the preceding year, and newsstand sales surged upward 44%. According to the latest ABC statement, total paid
circulation in North America is 386,394 with newsstand sales approaching 45,000.
