AOL Ad Revenues Grow 33%

America Online's 2005 ad revenues increased by $333 million, or 33 percent, with search revenues increasing by $162 million, or 35 percent, according to Time Warner's earnings report issued Wednesday. But those gains weren't enough to offset the loss in subscription revenue, which plummeted as 2.8 million subscribers defected in 2005. AOL closed out the year with 19.5 million U.S. members--a drop of 13 percent from 2004.
